Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Laura Keller began violin studies at age 3 with proteges of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki. She attended the Punahou School then pursued violin performance as an undergraduate at the New England Conservatory where she studied with Miriam Fried. She went on to earn a Masters in Music from Yale University, studying with Ani Kavafian. Her primary chamber music mentors have included Paul Katz and members of the Borromeo, Takács, and Tokyo Quartets.

Laura played her first concerto solo with orchestra at age 12 with the Honolulu Symphony as a winner of the HSO’s concerto competition. She has been featured on National Public Radio’s shows From The Top and Performance Today and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in renowned concert venues across the country and abroad. Laura toured Beijing and Shanghai performing an original work by award-winning composer Michael-Thomas Foumai for solo violin and orchestra, commissioned for her and the Punahou Symphony Orchestra. She has participated in music festivals including the ENCORE School for Strings, Music@Menlo’s Young Performer and International programs, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Taos School of Music. Today, Laura is a member of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and performs frequently with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony. She lives in the city with her Dachshund, Jemma.
